Oakley BMX Athletes Sunglasses Caroline Buchanan

BIOGRAPHY

Caroline Buchanan is one of those people that people want to be around. She’s just as relaxed on a mountain bike racing down a 50-percent gradient, swerving to dodge trees as she is on a BMX bike flying at 55 kph over a 13-meter jump, teaching two year olds still in “nappies” to ride a balance bike or being in front of a TV camera, talking to 200 business people at a formal dinner or glamming up for an awards night or photo shoot. She’s comfortable in her skin and is all about making those around her feel the same.

Though she’s one of the most approachable athletes around, she’s also fiercely competitive with a long list of accomplishments to her name. Her achievements have earned her the title of “Queen of Dirt” in the cycling world. She also had the honor of becoming the first cyclist (and third female) in the 56-year history of the coveted Sir Hubert Opperman Trophy to win the award. And that’s just one among many victories she’s received off of her bike. You can learn more about Caroline at her website, carolinebuchanan.com.

Oakley BMX Athletes Sunglasses Alise Post

BIOGRAPHY

Despite being one of the best female BMX racers in the U.S. back in 2008, Alise Post was denied a spot on the Olympic team because, at age 17, she was too young. The age minimum for an Olympic BMX racer in 2008 was 19. In a sport that awards national titles to champions as young as five, a racer's rise to fame comes early, and the young BMX star from St. Cloud, Minn., who was accustomed to racing at the sport's top level, was forced to witness BMX's pinnacle event from afar. To distract herself from the disappointment, Alise spread herself thin across three sports: BMX, gymnastics, and track and field, while maintaining a 4.0 grade average.

Throughout those years, Alise had a bit of a reality check. Injury and fresh competition brought new challenges to her. Despite her below-par performances on the international level, by the end of 2009 she was back among the world's best. Once she became eligible for the 2012 Olympic Games, Alise took her dedication to BMX to a new level. Upon graduating high school in 2009, Alise retired from gymnastics and track and field in order to relocate — at the invitation of USA Cycling — to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., and regain her winning ways. Although she remained busy by continuing her education as a fulltime student at the University of San Diego for the 2009-10 academic year and by increasing her involvement on the BMX World Cup circuit, she saw big improvements in the beginning of 2010. As a result, she resolved to narrow her focus yet again by making the difficult decision to take a break from college and completely dedicate herself to BMX.

Within months of this decision, Alise claimed a place as the top-ranked American, both nationally and internationally, by taking third place at both her first elite world championship, and at a world cup race on her home track in Chula Vista. She followed up those results with a fourth place at the final world cup round in France and by finishing second overall in the world rankings.

Alise is engaged to fellow BMX Racer Sam Willoughby.

Oakley BMX Athletes Sunglasses Sam Willougby

BIOGRAPHY

Sam Willougby became the first rider to win back-to-back Junior World Titles in his homeland of Australia and he has taken his blistering form into the senior ranks. He was ranked the World's Best BMX rider at the end of 2010, as well as receiving the accolade of Australia's Elite Male BMX Cyclist of the Year. His soaring 2011 results helped pull Australia to the highest ranked BMX nation.

Willoughby made his biggest international breakthrough in 2012 when he won his first senior BMX World Title three months out from the London Games. Full of confidence, Willoughby made his Olympic debut in London where he would again tackle the world’s best. He came into form for the semis and then finished runner-up in the final, taking the Silver Medal in his first Olympic Games.

Willoughby left his Adelaide home at age 16 with a backpack, a meager bank account balance and his BMX bike for California. He stayed at the home of fellow cyclists until he earned enough money from winning races to afford a room in a motel. Willoughby advanced into the senior ranks within two years of his arrival. He won his first senior BMX world championship in May 2012, which advanced his ranking to the number one spot in the world. Willoughby supports educating children about bicycle education through the Happiness Cycle. He currently resides in San Diego with his fiancee, Alise Post.

Oakley BMX Athletes Sunglasses Mike “Hucker” Clark

BIOGRAPHY

Mike “Hucker” Clark is one of those riders with a glaringly obvious natural talent – and a glaringly unique personality. A pro BMX dirt rider, Hucker is also quite the waterman, with a knack and passion for surfing, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing and spear fishing. Hailing from Fountain Valley – an area in close proximity to Sheep Hills and the various trails of Orange County – Hucker is a SoCal soul through and through, with his flowing surf-style clearly identifiable in his riding technique. And then there’s the mullet – harking to an OC of decades prior.

Hucker has been riding since the late ‘90s, when he got his first GT. His natural flair on a bike meant that he picked up a number of sponsors in his teens, but it wasn’t until 2010, following a series of solid results – and more in the following years – that established Hucker’s reputation as a “must-see” rider.

Oakley BMX Athletes Sunglasses Dennis Enarson

BIOGRAPHY

Almost since the time he first got on a BMX bike at 8 years old, Dennis Enarson has been something special. He debuted as a pro in 2007, received an invite to X Games, and in the time since has been one of the top contenders in any event he enters in both Park and Dirt. His young career hasn’t come without its challenges, including lacerating his liver midway through a dirt final in 2009, breaking a wrist at X Games Brazil in 2012, and busting open his shin during bowl prelims at the US Open of Surfing in 2014 (he still rode prelims and qualified first). However, it's that resilience in the face of challenges and adversity that have highlighted his tremendous talent and dedication to his sport. A fan favorite at contests and a media darling every time he drops a new movie part (watch "MARKIT ZERO"!), he's helped to elevate BMX freeriding back to its perch among the top action sports draws everywhere in the world.
